Who Says.

So, I LOVE the song-Who Says. By Selena Gomez. What an awesome song!! I love the message and what it stands for. It's so easy, especially for women to not be happy for who they are, or by what they look like. Because we aren't always "perfect" in the world's eyes. When really we are perfect in God's eyes-just the way we are.

[Verse 1]

I wouldn't want to be anybody else

( Hey! )

You made me insecure
Told me I wasn't good enough
But who are you to judge
When you're a diamond in the rough
I'm sure you got some things
You'd like to change about yourself
But when it comes to me
I wouldn't want to be anybody else

Na na na na na
Na na na na na na
I'm no beauty queen
I'm just beautiful me

La na na na na na na na na!
La na na na na na na na na!

You've got every right
To a beautiful life
( C'mon! )

Who says
Who says you're not perfect
Who says you're not worth it
Who says you're the only one that's hurting
Trust me
That's the price of beauty
Who says you're not pretty
Who says you're not beautiful
Who says

[Selena Gomez - Verse 2]

It's such a funny thing
How nothing's funny when it's you
You tell 'em what you mean
But they keep whiting out the truth

It's like a work of art
That never gets to see the light
Keep you beneath the stars
Won't let you touch the sky

La na na na na na na na na!
La na na na na na na na na!

I'm no beauty queen
I'm just beautiful me

La na na na na na na na na!
La na na na na na na na na!

You've got every right
To a beautiful life
C'mon

[Chorus]

Who says
Who says you're not perfect
Who says you're not worth it
Who says you're the only one that's hurting
Trust me
That's the price of beauty
Who says you're not pretty
Who says you're not beautiful

Who says
Who says you're not star potential
Who says you're not presidential
Who says you can't be in movies
Listen to me, listen to me
Who says you don't pass the test
Who says you can't be the best
Who said, who said
Won't you tell me who said that
( Yeah, WHO SAID!? )

Who says
Who says you're not perfect
Who says you're not worth it
Who says you're the only one that's hurting
Trust me
That's the price of beauty
Who says you're not pretty
Who says you're not beautiful
Who says(x2)

I've been trying to think of good activities for my beehives, so that they know how important it is for them to know how beautiful they are. Both inside and out. How they are, and that they don't need to change for anyone.

Anyone have any good ideas??

Thanks for pointing out how good the meaning of that song is. I really like that song, but haven't really thought about the words. I love the meaning and agree that we each need to be our own kind of beautiful! My favorite quote is, "Don't try to be anyone but who you are, and try to be that perfectly!"

One of the activities I remember doing as a YW was kind of related to this. We each wrote our name on a piece of paper. The paper was passed around the room to each person there. The first person started writing on the bottom on the paper and when they were done, they folded it over so no one else could read it. It got passed all the way around so each person wrote one everyone else's paper and we ended up with an accordian-folded paper. We were supposed to be writing about things we admired about the people in the room. I think I was probably 13-14 and I still have my paper. It was a neat way to give people compliments because you could think about it, you didn't have to say it out loud or in front of other people, and you had to say nice things about people that you maybe had a rough time with socially (because, you know, there's always something cool about someone but sometimes you just need the excuse to look for it). The YW leader had a list up on the board of ideas of where to start thinking of compliments (style, personality, interactions with others, smart, good cook, talent, artistic, etc). It was one of those activities that I felt helped the YW in our ward bond and really recognize the talents of others and also see the talents we had ourselves and what others admired in us.
